You bring the Hymnal, I'll bring the History

Anna and her sister Susan Warner lived near the West Point
Military base. They had the privilege to see many young service
men come to know Jesus. They would conduct weekly Bible school
classes for the men. After their father died, Susan started
writing some fiction novels. One that she wrote in 1860 was
entitled "Say and Seal". In it a poem was needed to
give comfort to a dying child so Susan's sister Anna wrote the
words, "Jesus Loves Me". In 1861 Dr. William
Bradbury wrote the tune and added the chorus to this hymn that
children around the world sing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus loves me! this I know, for the bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong, They are weak but He is strong.
Jesus loves me! He who died Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin, let His little child come in.
Jesus loves me! He will stay close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me, I will henceforth live for thee.
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
