You bring the Hymnal, I'll bring the History

"O Come, All Ye Faithful" is a worldwide loved hymn during the Christmas season. It was written in 1744 by John Wade. The original hymn was written with four stanzas and in Latin. Stanza four is left out of most of our hymn books but the three remaining give us a beautiful picture of Christ.
In stanza one we look upon Jesus as a babe in Bethlehem. In stanza two, we not only view the angels but join with them as they sing in celebration. And our final stanza, we are remind of John 1, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." The Christmas season, a time for family, gift giving, and feasting. These things will never be pushed away, but let's not push Christ out of Christmas either. He is the focal point for the entire season. Let's even now at the very beginning of December, give Him all the praise and honor due to His holy name.

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come, ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold Him born the King of angels;

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation
O sing, all ye bright hosts of heav'n above;
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning,
Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv'n
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ, the Lord.
