You bring the Hymnal,  I'll bring the History

James Montgomery's parents died as Moravian missionaries in the West Indies when he was only six years old.  James grew up a ward of a Brethren school in England.  He grew up an active supporter of foreign missions, Bible societies, and the abolition of slavery.  But it wasn't until he was 43 years old that he felt a full assurance of his salvation.  Around the age of 45 Montgomery wrote the poem, "Angels from the Realms of Glory."  In stanza one he calls the angels to not just remain in Bethlehem but to go to the whole world with the news of Jesus' birth.  And this is true for all believers, during this Christmas season we should tell others the story of Messiah's birth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story,
Now proclaim Messiah's birth:
Shepherds, in the field abiding,
Watching o'er your flocks by night,
God with man is now residing,
Yonder shines the infant light:
Sages, leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations,
Ye have seen His natal star:
Saints before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear,
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear:
Sinners, wrung with true repentance,
Doomed for guilt to endless pains,
Justice now revokes the sentence,
Mercy calls you, break your chains:
Refrain:
Come and worship, Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the new-born King.
